Flowers are the most spectacular creation and gift that Mother Nature has given to mankind. They bring about passion, inspiration and a shower of emotions. Flowers for me, symbolize an abundance of happiness, joy, love, gratitude and new beginnings. Flowers tickle our senses with bursts of color, heavenly scent and eternal beauty. That is why I am so inspired to paint these beautiful blooms full of color and emotion.
I love to paint with big blocks of color, mixing in impressionistic and abstracted flowers, blooming and swaying in the meadows. My inspiration for painting in Color Fields comes the abstract expressionism painters, Mark Rothko and Helen Frankenthaler. Their expressive use of color captures powerful emotions, without using scenes and subjects. I especially love Frankenthaler's style, that emphasizes beauty and color along with the use of the landscape. As one of the first women artists, her innovative technique has inspired many along the way and spearheaded the practice of Color Field Painting. I am inspired by the use of color, and my style expands the Color Field abstraction with using flowers as my muse.
